Let’s face it, competition for students at economics institutions might have gotten a little more stiff this week with the appointment of Angeline Jolie Pitt as a Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics. But that didn’t stop some great PhD and PostDoc students from coming to Esbjerg instead for a focused workshop on Bioeconomic Modeling with Complex Regulatory Goals.
Professors Martin Quaas (Kiel, pictured here), Niels Vestergaard (SDU), Maarten Punt (SDU) and myself provided students with a mix of elegant mathematical tools and pragmatic pathways for using modeling and applications to further economic theory of bioeconomic and ecological challenges.
Students had a chance to present their own research plans and get directed feedback on their work. There are definitely some excellent projects coming down the pipeline!
