Niels Vestergaard is back in the news regarding reforms aimed at remedying the quota king phenomenon in Danish fisheries. Here is the article from today’s Politiken (in Danish).
In short, the new plan to increase breadth in who holds Danish fishing quota sounds good but provides a by-pass to the ‘quota kings’ who can keep their nets full by renting old quota. The politicians, in leaving this loophole open, seem to have chosen not to rock the boats…
